Solid panel shutters were generally used by the Victorians.
The materials in which the Victorians used for shutters
were mostly cedar wood or pine wood. Although you
can still find today that many have survived over the years,
the pine shutters did not have the potential to last for
such a long time and as a consequence of this, many original
shutters have indeed rotted. Today, our solid shutters
have become extremely popular within Victorian houses as
we do a large proportion of replacement work. Our
solid raised panel shutters are only available in the Phoenix
and/or Vancouver ranges. The Phoenix range is a hardwood
and the Vancouver range is red cedar.
Solid shutters are also very popular in homes which are
in close vicinity to roads and which may possibly be exposed
to an element of noise level. Solid shutters do eliminate
some noise factor in this instance. They also
give homes a much more secure look and hence a better sense
of security is gained by our customers.
Apart from having that authentic look which has most certainly
been acquired from the Victorian period, there is also much
to be desired in the style itself.
